New Way Of Travelling.

This afternoon my fiancé and I went to his parents house. It's been a while since we've gone up their, in fact, I don't think we've both been up together since we moved into our flat 19ish months ago.

We set off walking from Sheffield to Rotherham. It would have taken us a good hour and a half to get to the house but his mum was driving past us about 40 minutes into our walk and picked us up.
We stopped at Meadowhall (our shopping centre) to get a few bits first.
The reason for going was because his dad had finished fixing up 2 mounting bikes and his parents were kind enough to give them to us.
Myself and Josh don't drive yet so we have to catch buses or walk if we want to go anywhere. I'm lucky if I go to see my family as my mum and dad always come and pick me up/drop me off so I don't have to spend money I don't have on bus fare or walk for ages to see them. My dad also takes me food shopping occasionally which I'm also thankful for.
Despite the lifts sometimes, we're pretty much limited to where we can go with no money and it sucks. We've been looking into getting bikes for a while but they cost a lot of money and that's not including all the accessories you'll need to get started... So when we were told we could have 2 bikes, it was great!
I got a blue mounting bike (blue is my favourite colour so I'm very happy about that) and Josh ended up with his dad's road bike instead.

Picture from Google. (Same bike and colour as mine)

We rode back home from Rotherham and it's the longest ride I've done so far.
When I was about 5, my dad taught me to ride a bike and since then, I've ridden a bike only a handful of times and it was only ever on the road in front of my parents house or round the park that's up the road from theirs... So I was pretty nervous ridding so far and I nearly crashed quite a few times so I defiantly need more practice.
We also need helmets. I feel like I'd be more confident riding if I had one too. I won't be as scared of falling off and smashing my head open.
We have bike locks, gloves, lights (which need batteries), an air pump and a little repair kit just in case. We also got ourselves a backpack each so when ridding, we can take things with us like our phones and keys without it being an inconvenience.

My dad (CaptainKirt) is big into cycling. He rides to work and back daily, he watches cycling on TV whenever he can, he's in a cycling club and he even competed in the Tour De Yorkshire so it'd be nice to maybe go on a ride with my dad one day too. I also know he can give me advice and help if my bike needs it so I'm very lucky in that.

Overall, I'm really happy with my new bike and I'm excited to keep ridding, despite the pain I'm currently in after my long ride home and then to the shops.

xoxo
